What Surgeons Are Saying

The NuVasive® MAS® platform has revolutionized thoracolumbar access and fixation. Safe and reproducible, minimally disruptive access for thoracic surgery is now possible via minimal incision with the MaXcess® Access System and NeuroVision® Intraoperative Monitoring System. The lateral access approach that has revolutionized lumbar fusion is now the ideal approach for thoracic applications. To facilitate fusion in thoracic procedures, NuVasive offers Osteocel® Plus. An allograft cellular bone matrix containing viable mesenchymal stem cells, Osteocel Plus mimics the biologic profile of autograft by providing all three natural components for bone healing.

XLIF® Thoracic
NuVasive has found a solution for thoracolumbar access and fixation with the minimally disruptive XLIF approach. The XLIF technique allows a safe, reproducible direct lateral approach to the intervertebral disc space. When coupled with NeuroVision safety, the MaXcess System enables maximum surgical access while minimizing the soft tissue disruption that often occurs during open thoracotomy surgery. Because MaXcess allows greater access to the disc space, a larger implant can be used, which assists in indirectly decompressing nerves by restoring disc height. It also offers improved visualization, and increased angulation during positioning of instruments and implants. XLIF applications have expanded rapidly and now cover thoracic discectomy, degenerative scoliosis correction, corpectomy, and revision surgery.
